Drinking water is so important that even a Mild dehydration can impair energy levels, impair mood, and lead to major reductions in memory and brain performance. Not only this, drinking plenty of water also helps with constipation and kidney defects. However, these benefits are known to all of us. But did you know, drinking water can effectively help in healthy ageing? That’s right! Water might just be your anti-aging elixir. The important link between drinking water and anti-ageing is that it supports a healthy lifestyle, which is absolutely essential in ageing well. Ageing is about more than just lines on your face, it is about mobility, energy, wellness and mental sharpness. Many of the factors that contribute to wellness into old age, can be supported by drinking water. These include exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, brain health and hydrated skin.

Firstly, Drinking water is so important to the health of the brain that severe, prolonged dehydration can even age the brain. Secondly, Skin that is hydrated retains its elasticity, helping to prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The natural plumpness of skin decreases through time as collagen levels drop. Skin that is adequately hydrated will retain its movement better despite this, helping with the appearance of wrinkles.


Although, it is not always easy to start drinking over 8 glasses of water if it is not a habit already. Here are some ways to start drinking plenty of water-

One of the ways you can increase your water intake is by not waiting till you actually feel thirsty. Try taking sips of water, milk, or juice between bites during meals. Have a habit of drinking water before and after every physical activity. Set a daily goal of the amount of water you want to intake and maintain a checklist. If that does not help, set alarms to remind you to drink water. Keeping a water bottle handy can also serve as a visual reminder to drink more water. If you see the bottle on your desk or table, you will constantly be reminded to drink more. One way to drink more water — and boost your health and reduce your calorie intake is to replace other drinks, such as soda and sports drinks, with water. Try all of these ways to increase your water intake and age healthily.
