Kombucha - the tea of immortality








Kombucha is type of fermented , lightly effervescent sweetened black or green tea commonly known for its functional properties and health benefits.

The first recorded use of kombucha comes from China in 221 BC during the Tsin Dynasty. It was known as "The Tea of Immortality". It has been used in Eastern Europe, Russia and Japan for several centuries.


In recent times, this beverage has become a rage amongst fitness and wellness coaches. Let's have a look at what makes kombucha a hit among health experts.

Kombucha is a fermented drink and therefore

rich in probiotics. Probiotics can be defined as a substance which stimulates the growth of microorganisms, especially those with beneficial properties. Probiotic bacteria possess the ability to treat diarrhea and certain bowel syndromes as well. It helps in maintaining a healthy digestive tract.


2. Reduces risk of heart diseases.


Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death. Studies say, regular consumption of kombucha can bring down cholesterol levels in a month.

Make your own Scobby!


You'll require -


• 7 cups of clean water

• 1/2 cup white sugar

• 4 bags black tea

• 1 cup unpasteurized, unflavored store bought kombucha.

• A large pitcher that can hold about 1.8L

• Tightly woven cloth

• Rubber bands


Instructions -


1.Boil the water in a clean pot. Add the sugar into it and let it dissolve.


2. Add the tea and allow to steep while the water cools down to room temperature.


3. Pour the sweetness tea into your jars, pour store bought kombucha in it.


4. Cover with a few layers of tightly woven cloth and secure with a rubber band.


5. Leave it to set in dark at room temperature for about 1-4 weeks until a 1/4 inch scoby is formed.


6. Keep the scoby in its original tea until you're ready to brew the first batch.


You can consume kombucha on a daily basis.
